On behalf of Vidya Prasarak Mandal, it is my privilege to welcome you to B.N. Bandodkar College of Science (BNBCS), Thane. As an autonomous institution affiliated with the University of Mumbai, BNBCS has been a leading centre for scientific education and research, committed to nurturing rational thinkers, competent professionals and socially responsible individuals.

Guided by our vision — “Imparting Quality Education in Science” — and mission — “To mould students into rational thinkers, competent workers, and socially aware citizens” — we design all academic, co-curricular and extracurricular activities to promote holistic development and academic excellence.

BNBCS is the only single-faculty science college affiliated with the University of Mumbai that offers education from Class XI to Ph.D. level. We offer 28 academic programs, including 12 B.Sc., 7 M.Sc. (by papers), 4 M.Sc. (by research) and 5 Ph.D. programs across various scientific disciplines. In alignment with the New Education Policy (NEP 2020), the college continuously evolves its practices to meet national quality benchmarks. We aim to equip students with both academic strength and industry-relevant skills needed for the modern world.

Our efforts have earned us several recognitions, including NAAC A+ Grade accreditation, FIST Grants, DBT Star College Scheme and the STAR College Award. Various honours received from Ministry of Environment Forest and Climate Change, Govt. of India, Thane Municipal Corporation, Indian Elites Education and Institutional Excellence award, Food Drug Administration reaffirming our dedication to quality and innovation.

We place strong emphasis on cultivating a research-oriented mindset among students. Undergraduate and postgraduate students participate in research projects, and their work is often published in our peer-reviewed e-journal JBNB. Our national and international conferences offer valuable platforms for scholarly exchange and align with current scientific developments.

Beyond the classroom, we focus on the all-round development of our students. Through sports, cultural events, field visits, departmental activities and short-term skill-based certificate courses, students gain essential life skills. Our active NCC, NSS, and DLLE units promote a spirit of leadership and community service.
