Vidya Prasarak Mandal, Thane (VPM, Thane), was established as a trust in 1935 by visionary leaders inspired by Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak’s freedom movement. With a deep commitment to education, they began their journey with a Marathi-medium school. In 1955, Dr. V. N. Bedekar, a medical practitioner, joined the trust, bringing a transformative change in its operations.

Driven by the vision of empowering the youth of Thane and its surrounding areas, Janandweepa was established at a time when educational facilities were scarce. Over the years, the institution has grown significantly, now featuring separate college buildings, well-equipped libraries and modern infrastructure. Notable facilities include the Thorale Bajirao Peshwe Sabhagruha, independent auditoriums for colleges, high-speed internet connectivity with access to national and international databases, and a fully Wi-Fi-enabled campus.

VPM has clearly defined its Vision, Mission and Goals, ensuring a progressive approach to education. The institution actively engages in global collaborations, forming MOUs and partnerships with foreign universities, enriching academic interactions.

Beyond academics, VPM’s institutions foster holistic development through various events such as Convocation, Disha Vyasapeetha, Annual Dr. V. N.
