Department of Statistics was established in year 1980. The B.Sc. in Statistics program offered by the Department of Statistics is designed to provide students with a solid foundation in statistical theory, data analysis, and practical application. This undergraduate program equips students with the essential tools to collect, organize, interpret, and draw meaningful conclusions from data. Vision of our department very well describes this goal, which states that
Through a blend of theoretical instruction and hands-on experience through Field projects, students gain proficiency in key areas such as probability, statistical inference, regression analysis, design of experiments, and sampling techniques. The curriculum is further enhanced with training in statistical software and programming languages, preparing students for real-world data challenges.
Our dedicated and experienced faculty members are committed to nurturing analytical thinking and a problem-solving mindset. Regular Certificate courses, workshops, and guest lectures expose students to current trends and interdisciplinary applications of statistics in fields such as Biostatistics, computer science, social sciences, and business analytics.
Graduates of the B.Sc. Statistics program are well-prepared for careers in data analytics, market research, banking, insurance, public policy, and further academic pursuits such as M.Sc., MBA, or data science specializations.
With a focus on academic rigor and practical relevance, the B.Sc. in Statistics empowers students to become competent professionals and critical thinkers in a data-driven world.
