As per the University of Mumbai Circular dated May 2019 and the UGC Guidelines 2019, every affiliated college is required to constitute a College Grievance Redressal Committee (CGRC) to address and resolve student grievances in a fair and timely manner.

Aim

The aim of the College Grievance Redressal Cell (CGRC) is to ensure a transparent, fair, and speedy resolution of student grievances at the institutional level while upholding the principles of natural justice and mutual respect.

Objectives

  1. To establish a safe and supportive environment for students to voice their concerns.
  2. To resolve academic, administrative, or personal complaints in a structured and time-bound manner.
  3. To promote awareness of students’ rights and institutional responsibilities.
  4. To enhance the overall academic experience by minimizing student dissatisfaction.
  5. To provide counselling and guidance when necessary to resolve issues amicably.

Functions

  • Receive student grievances through the official online portal with necessary documentation.
  • Scrutinize complaints, prepare agendas, and schedule meetings within 15 days.
  • Give both complainant and concerned parties a fair hearing following the principles of natural justice.
  • Maintain records of minutes and action taken reports for each meeting.
  • Upload resolutions and annual reports on the portal and submit them to the University.
  • Suggest reforms based on recurring complaints and patterns.
  • Refer unresolved cases to the University Grievance Redressal Cell (UGRC) within 30 days.
