Dr. V. N. Bedekar

From Dream to Legacy: An Inspiring Journey towards Quest of Knowledge

In 1956, the year marking the birth centenary of Lokmanya Tilak, a young and passionate enthusiast, Dr. V. N. Bedekar, began his medical practice in Thane. Deeply moved by Tilak’s contributions towards education, he became actively involved with Vidya Prasarak Mandal, eventually rising to the position of President.

Dr. Bedekar had a beautiful dream – a vision to create an “Island of Knowledge” (Jnyanadweep) in Thane. With a heart full of dedication, an unshakable determination and the support of his close-knit team, he worked tirelessly to make that dream a reality.

For decades, he was the heart and soul of the institute, guiding it with wisdom and compassion until his age of 85. His legacy lived on and after his sad demise, his son, Dr. Vijay Bedekar, took up the mantle of leadership. With his own unique vision and steady hand, Dr. Vijay continues to nurture the growth of Vidya Prasarak Mandal, ensuring it flourishes and remains a beacon of knowledge for future generations.
